Found all over the world, meadows support an incredible array of life.

But here in the UK, we have lost 97% of our wildflower meadows in the past 100 years.

Head of Landscapes and Horticulture at Wakehurst, Iain Parkinson, travelled to Armenia. There, he met local botanists, who have been working with Kew for a decade, and experienced some of their stunning meadow landscapes.

Together, they undertook ecological research to inspire Wakehurst’s next intrepid landscape transformation, inspired by the Silk Road.

They also found out about the decade-long partnership between Armenian scientists and the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst, Kew’s wild botanic garden.
